Sea cucumbers-saponin ameliorates hepatorenal toxicity induced by Gentamicin in rats

Background: Sea cucumbers have number of one a pharmacological effects counting anticancer, anticoagulant, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and wound healing. Biological properties therapeutic benefits can be connected to the presence wide cluster bioactive compounds particularly triterpene glycosides (saponins). Aims: The present study aimed explore hepatoprotective nephroprotective activity cucumbers-saponin (Sc-S) on gentamicin-induced hepatorenal toxicity in rats. Main methods: Eighteen male Wistar rats were divided into three groups, control, gentamycin, gentamycin+ Sc-S. model was induced by gentamycin (80 mg/kg, i.p) for 8 days. Results: Sc-S group showed reduction concentrations urea, uric acid, creatinine, MDA activities AST, ALT, ALP. While it caused general increase levels CAT GSH. Microscopic examination appeared clear enhancement liver kidney histology group. Conclusion: antioxidant is main mechanism protection against gentamicin toxicity.
